Just rebuilt a 775 system.
After installing new motherboard, have done a fresh Vista install and installed the latest BIOS and latest drivers for Vista also.
All seems fine, but I seem to have a bit of an issue with the HDD. In short, whenever anything needs to access the HDD it seems slow.
File copying takes longer than it should, windows takes a bit longer to load, load times on games take 2 to 3 times as long and there's usually a stutter after loading a game that clears itself after about 20 seconds or so, until HDD activity dies down.
I did not format the drive before the Windows installtion.
Any idea's what this could be and how to solve??
Thanks.
EDIT: I cannot remember if I connected the power supply to the drive!! Doh! Would the drive still function with a SATA connection but no power? If not, forget the edit and read as above!! Cheers.
