Hi
I was going to keep my old 939 AMD setup but things have changed and I'm now going to do a new build.
This is what I've come up with.

OCZ 4GB (2x2GB) PC2-6400C4 800MHz Reaper HPC Enhanced Bandwidth Edition Dual Channel DDR2 (OCZ2RPR800C44GK) £61.99(£72.84)
Western Digital Raptor 150GB 10000RPM SATA 16MB Cache - OEM (WD1500ADFD) £98.99(£116.31)
Abit IP35 Pro (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard £101.99(£119.84)
Intel Core 2 Quad Pro Q6600 "Energy Efficient SLACR 95W Edition" 2.40GHz (1066FSB) - Retail £144.99(£170.36)
Tuniq Tower 120-LFB CPU Cooler (Socket 478/754/939/940/AM2/LGA775) £22.99(£27.01)
BFG GeForce 8800 GTS OC 512MB GDDR3 HDTV/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail £169.99(£199.74)
Sub Total : £600.94
Shipping cost £8.95
VAT £106.73
Total : £716.62

It's mainly for gaming, browsing and a bit of encoding. Current monitor is 1280x1024 but will upgrade that to a 22" or 24" in the near future.
I will overclock the system as much as I can as long as it's quieter than the old delta fans I used to have in my Athlon days. :D
O/S is Windows XP (so I realise 4GB of memory is not needed but it's cheap at the moment and I might upgrade to Vista sometime soon)
Would appreciate your views on my proposed purchase.
Cheers
T

Take the Raptor out and put in a 500GB as they are ABOUT the same speed... I feel the raptors are a waste of money nowadays as other normal HDD's have caught up in speed.

Other than that it all looks good, mobo is a good one, Quad core looks good:D

Not sure about graphics card... I thought the 8800GT was the sweet spot but I haven't kept up with GFX cards since buying my 2900 so im probably wrong;)

Take it you got Case, PSU, monitor etc?

Hope this helps, Doug.

Hi
Thanks for the replies guys.
I've already got a 250GB sata drive so I shoild be okay for space, I'm just going for the raptor for the quick access times really. I should have bought one when I did my 939 build but thought the price was going to drop (which it didn't)
I've already got a case and monitor thanks.
My PSU is a Enermax EG495AX-VE rated at 485W and 2x 18A on the 12V line

I'm just wondering if the PSU has all the connections needed to run the recent intel motherboards?
Does anyone know what are the differences between the 2 tuniq tower models?
