Time to update my ageing q6600 system. Pretty set on the following components and I have a 1Tb HDD, BD-RW drive, wifi, sound card and all accessories already. This will be used for gaming and some photo/video editing, and I will be overclocking.

EVGA GeForce GTX 780 Classified "Dual BIOS" 3072MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card (03G-P4-3788-KR) £429.95
Intel Core i7-4770K 3.50GHz (Haswell) Socket LGA1150 Processor - Retail £239.99
Gigabyte Z87X-OC Intel Z87 (Socket 1150) DDR3 ATX Motherboard £157.99
Corsair Obsidian 750D Full Tower Case - Black (CC-9011035-WW) £138.98
Corsair Hydro H100i High Performance Liquid CPU Cooler (CW-9060009-WW) £88.00
Samsung 500GB SSD 840 EVO SATA 6Gb/s Basic - (MZ-7TE500BW) £233.99

Any thoughts on the best PSU and RAM (8 or 16Gb?) or suggestions for improvements? Total budget around £1500.

Thanks

That's a lot of money spent on the graphics card. I'd advise the one below. Have it myself, great overclocker and easily trades punches with the GTX780. The TeamGroup RAM is well regarded here and has a lifetime warranty. You'll be fine with 8gb. 16gb is a luxury really and it all depends on the editing software as to whether you'll see any benefit.

As for power supplies a good quality 600W - 750W supply will be ample. Again, some ideas listed below.

Other than that it all looks very good.

YOUR BASKET
1 x Sapphire Radeon R9 290 Tri-X 4096MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card (11227-03-40G) £323.99
1 x Seasonic G series 650w '80 Plus Gold' Modular Power Supply £89.99
1 x Antec High Current Gamer 620W '80 Plus Bronze' Power Supply £79.99
1 x Seasonic M12II EVO Edition 750W '80 Plus Bronze' Fully Modular Power Supply £79.99
1 x SuperFlower Golden Green HX 650W "80 Plus Gold" Power Supply - Black £79.99
1 x TeamGroup Xtreem LV "Frost Edition" 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-19200C10 2400MHz Dual Channel Kit £65.99
Total : £734.94 (includes shipping : £12.50).

Thanks. Looking at an MSI R9 290X gaming edition and 250Gb SSD now. Definitely want a 750D, does this need an extension cables?

Worth getting 2666MHz RAM for overclocking? Presumably 8Gb might be a bit more stable than 16Gb too?
