Would i be right in saying that i should be able to clock the cpu to 400x9 (3.6ghz) and run the ram at 800mhz with this setup?

Thanks

Fairly comfortably.

For the same amount of money I would get the Q6600 defiantly, you could also save money by getting the DS3R unless you need the added features of the DS4 and by getting the 520W Corsair PSU and with the saved money maybe get 4GB RAM, other than that it all looks good.

Go for the 520W PSU to save some ££ and also, go with Quadcore.

what are the exrea features on the ds4 and would the 520w be more than enough incase i want to upgrade cpu and graphics card at some point?

the Corsair 520W will have no problems powering your system and future upgrades i would have thought especially when things are being designed to use less power (Penryn, G92's) for example.

If you dont know the extra features of the DS4 then i presume you didnt pick it because you needed any extra features but rather picked it because you could afford it in which case the DS3R should do everything you require, the extra features are probably firewire and better cooling if you wanted to know.

extra cooling sounds good :)

Just read a review on the 6750 and said they clock and perform very well, any views?

Changed system to the 6750 with the corsair 520w and 4gb (4x1gb) crucial ballistix

£1023

To be honest all C2D's overclock well just some more than others, I would say the E6750 could hit 3.2GHz pretty comfortably and probably more.

If it was me though I'd get a E2160 and overclock it to 3-3.2GHz and save £50 on the way or fork out for the Q6600.

would 4gb ram get used in my system or is it overkill atm?
could always upgrade to 4gb at later date.

First off you need a 64Bit OS.

It is probably overkill atm although DDR2 RAM is extremely cheap and theirs no harm going to 4GB and you wouldnt have to worry about not having enough for a while either, If you can afford 4GB I say go for it or like you said you can always add 2GB and a later date.
