Hi, I built a new system probably no more than a month ago to replace my 8600 Core2Duo. The system has been rock solid, however the last few days it has just randomly started rebooting. Not in a Windows way of rebooting, more in the way that the power shuts off and then it starts booting again.
I am quite confident this is hardware related, I am going to assume it is the PSU, as this is one of only two components I didn't change when I built the new system. The other being my raid storage drives.
My current setup is as follows:
Intel Core i5-4670K 3.40GHz (Haswell) Socket LGA1150 Processor
MSI Z87-G45 Gaming Series Intel Z87 (Socket 1150) DDR3 ATX Motherboard
Corsair Force GS 128GB 2.5" SATA 6Gb/s Solid State Hard Drive
Antec Kúhler H2O 920 Series 4 High Performance Liquid CPU Cooler
Cooler Master Silencio 550 Silent Tower Case
TeamGroup Xtreem LV 8GB
And my old Tagan 900w Modular Power Supply.
Nothing on my current rig is overclocked it is completely standard, the restarts will occur randomly, sometimes it can be fine for hours and then suddenly start, other times it can be as soon as it has booted into Windows, on Tuesday it did it 6 times in the space of 10minutes.
If it is a power supply issue which is what I believe, what would you recommend for the above spec? Also are there any diagnostic tests I can run on the PSU? I have run MemTest86 and CPU/GFX memory tools from "The Ultimate Diagnostic CD" it randomly rebooted when running those, which leads me to think it is a PSU issue though I would like to be sure, as before this issue I have never had a problem with the PSU and my old 8600 was running at 4.7Ghz completely stable.
Cheers,
Pete
