New build strangeness

Built my mate a new PC, but this time with SSD.

Dont think its the SSD, but not sure.

Install windows, all ok, install chipset drivers and things and if you dont do it in a particular order, windows just dissapears.

I got everything installed and it has all been ok. My mates just installed some games and thats all ok. But then on some patches, it has caused windows to disapear again.

Computer POST's, then it goes to boot windows and says its not there! and I have to put the windows CD in, then reinstall as its totally vanished.

motherboard controller causing the disk to corrupt/wipe. or the disk being faulty. Update your bios as this can fix the issue sometimes (asus striker II extreme had issues with data corruption until about bios 6/704 or something).

Its a gigabyte mobo, one of the i7 bundles, 4GHz one. I think its F7, will check what the latest is then.

Not the same problem this time it turns out. Windows has lost a file, he said it was called 'winload'

I told him to try and repair it.

Gonna look into chipset drivers/bios flash, or maybe its a duff SSD.
