I've been researching this for a while and have come to a build I think will meet my needs, mix of gaming, internet, office work with a bit of encoding watching blu-rays; a good allrounder.

I've added the odd comment as to why I went for a component, please offer alternatives if you think I've missed something. I'm trying to keep under £1600...

if you brought the corsair performance bundle, you get the case, psu and H50 cooler for cheaper.

Cheers I'll look at the bundle again, I had thought 850W might be too much for what I needed but may be worth the £20 extra...

I had missed the 1TB F3 had more cache, thanks will update accordingly :)

you were looking at the wrong bundle.

there's two with slightly different psu's.

the one linked is the cheap one, with the 650w psu.

but that corsair bundle is about £10 cheaper, than if he got the case(£210), psu(hx version £110) and the Fenrir(£30)

Any opinions on the H50? Really just after effective and quietish cooling, looking for a decent 24/7 overclock. Of course that will depend how hot the X6 chips get...

Hmm well looking at the results so far I may not go for the X6. I was after a platform that would last a while and power future graphics upgrades. May be I should go I7 930 as I guess the AM3 platform won't be compatible with Bulldozer so there will be no more cpu upgrades and the current most powerful CPU may last me longer?
