Any thoughts on anything i should change with that budget? i allready have got the case and cooler.

but how is the 930 for overclocking? i like the D0 stepping. With the mobo i want the stability and ease of the asus rampage aswell as the soundcard that it comes with. any other suggestions?

thanks for your suggestions guys but cmndr_andi, i do not wish to get the usb 3 / sata 6 as i have heard they steal bandwidth and also do not have the overclocking abilities that the asus does, as for the cpu again i wish to hear more about its overclocking abilities. and with the ram the corsair is more stable in the long run especially for such a high end spec.

the 930 is about the same if not better for overclocking someone else may wanna comfirm that, how far are you planning on overclocking your cpu?

hehe ye i might get the 1tb but i didnt think i would realy need it only using a 320 gb drive atm and havnt had many problems i thought that 650 gb of space would be ok, but i will think about that.

to about 4.0 mabey 4.2 if i can i am not sure what the 930 is capable of

I think the 930 is just as good as the 920 - but the slightly higher multiplier means you have a bit more headroom (you are likely to be thermally limited).

As for the Asus Ramage II - it doesn't really come with a sound card, it just has an add-on board for connections and runs some x-fi software. Its definately not comparable to a proper sound card. In contrast, you could get this and add it to the (perfectly stable and excellent overclocking) Gigabyte UD5 and it will cost about the same as an ARII. If you don't feel the need for the USB3 and SATA6, then get this instead and save a further £25.

the addon for the board you say, it looks and sounds just like it is a soundcard? or am i misstaken? check the second picture on the asus mobo?

oh ok, well i still think i will end up going for the asus, it has had so many good reviews and its a very good board, otherwise i would only go for the EVGA classified but its a lot a lot of money.

Any one got any further information about the 930? why is it only £9.99 more than the 920 D0 and would it be as easy and as stable to overclock as the 920?

Ah, fair enuf. The Asus is a good board, I just feel its a bit too expensive for what it is.

There are several i7 930 reviews on the web. The consensus is that it is simply a 920 D0 with an extra 1 added to the maximum multplier. Therefore, if you can cool it enough then the maximum overclock is slightly higher than the 920 (as you don't have to raise the BCLK quite as high). The reason for the price is that it is a direct replacement of the 920, so soon the stocks of the 920 will be gone and the 930 will take up its price bracket. The only reason for the slightly inflated price at the moment is to get rid of 920 stock (in my opinion).

ok thanks a lot for the info! i think i will swap to the i7 930 with that info tbh. Any one else got a say on it? mabey another component they could suggest for me to change, only other thing i have considered is the SSD i was thinking of going for the 100gb ocz limited edition with a crazy read and write spead its about £15 or so more and 20 gb less but with the extra 50+ mb write and higher read it might be worth it. any thoughts?
