Hi guys, mate wants a new desktop and is happy to spend about 1.4k on it.

Just wondering if there is anything here that could be replaced/improved. He has a mouse, needs a monitor/KB. I've thrown a molex to PCI-e 6pin in there because I don't think that PSU has a 6pin for the GTX.

It still needs a CPU cooler, hes got an Antec 1200 case already that he bought a while ago. Think he's probably happy with any 20 quid keyboard. I've heard good things about the Dell US so I'm hoping that is all fine.

Any suggestions? Thanks.

if he wants excellent air cooling and he may overclock then i could suggest Silver Arrow ir the Noctua NH D-15... I have the latter in my Antec 900 case and its very good..

What would you recommend for a gpu at that res, If I can save some money on that I can put the rest into an SSD for the OS.

Thanks if you have had good experience with it no reason not to get it. The noctua that is, heard good things about them too.

That video card is insanely priced, especially with the next generation of cards due soon. Its value will plummet when the new ones are released. Id suggest something like a 6950 which is plenty good enough but less than half the cost. You can then use the money saved when the new ones are released if you like.

To be honest I didn't pay much attention, with a budget of 1.4k and for a heavy gamer. I just looked at the benchmarks, saw that at the top of most and thought **** it get that...Pretty bad of me but thats what happened.

It's obviously a great card and not overkill to a lot of people... it's future proof :)

However.... new cards are due out. So best to wait.
