Hi all,

I recently took a number of peoples advice on the choice of hardware for an upgradge.

I had the joy of putting it all together this weekend but have mixed feelings about the temperatures I am getting and wondered if you all could confirm that the temperatures I'm getting are acceptable.

My Q6600 cooled by a Tuniq Tower running at stock speed is giving me the temperatures of 25-26-25-26 with the fan running at 958rpm. I am quite happy with this and will think about overclocking it during the week.

The temperature issues I am having are with the mobo and the GPU. The mobo is an Asus P5Q and the PC Probe software is reporting that it is running at 58dc while Speedfan is reporting 47dc. Is this okay? Should I be looking to install a fan on the Northbridge? Am I right in thinking that this reported temperature is the Northbridge?

The next is the GPU - I am running at Sapphire ATI Radeon HD 4870 and the Catalyst control center is reporting that it is running at 80dc (idle). I would hate to know how hot it would get while playing a game.

Do I need to be worried - or are these normal temperatures?

Thanks in advance.

What programme are you using to check your CPU temps, try Core temp or Real temp also check your full loads temps, use Prime 95 as this load all 4 cores.

Motherboard temps seem fine, my Gigabyte X38-DS5 is not too far off what your reading.

GPU not sure I`ve read some people are getting high idle temps run a game or 3d win mark and see what happens.
