New build, temps rise and fall like crazy.

So yesterday was my first time building a PC and everything seems to be running fine apart from I noticed the temps on my CPU rise and fall like crazy.

I'm using CPUID HWMonitor to check my temps and it can go from anywhere between 9c up to 34c in an instant. Max temp while playing games is 54c.

I'm on a stock AMD cooler for my FX 8320E but surely it shouldn't go up and down that much, that fast?

Is Cool'n'Quite playing a part in this? And should I overclock or wait until I can sort out my temps first?

I do plan on buying a Corsair H60 watercooler for my CPU in the coming month.

Mobo is: MSI 970 Gaming

Cheers for any helps.

Temps look fine to be honest. You're not realistically going to get 9c and 34 idle is about right.

Download RealTemp and see what that reads, it's known to be more accurate.

It's sound a little odd but you have the stock cooler which isn't the best. The h60 will help a lot with temps. Check all fan cables are correctly seated and make sure air flow is good inside and out the case. Where is the computer? Make sure if not next to a radiator I made that mistake and it didn't help temps.

Also 34c is ok. Download real temp that will give you a better reading

AMD cpus misreport temperatures at idle.The temperature reading are only accurate under load.

It may report its 9c,but it really not.Your overall temps seem pretty decent in all honestly on the stock cooler.

Well it seems its calmed down after I overclocked from 3.2 up to 4.0GHz. Temps with three chrome tabs open and teamspeak 3 is 25-28c which is good.

I was able to turn up the fan speeds as well which helped a lot. Hopefully it'll stay like this from now on and I'll get the H60 cooler at the end of the month.

Here's the overall reading for my system;

CPU temps below ~85 degrees are fine. Honestly, there is no difference in CPU longevity between idling at room temperature and idling in the 50's. Also, your CPU was never 9 degrees - AMD CPUs report lowish temps incorrectly.
