I've just completed my first build for the last four years. Everything seems to be working ok, but I have a question about temps.
Intel dp35dpm motherboard, Intel q6600 retail with intel heatsink & fan, Coolemaster case from previous build.
CPU = 56'. at idle. Is this normal ? My previous P4 2.8 (Zalman heatsink & fan) ran at about 35'. The ICH temp is shown as 78'.
The Intel desktop monitor shows everything as green, but it seemed a bit high for me; or am I out of touch ?

Thanks.
Gareth

That still seems high for stock to me, is the fan on a constant speed all the time? Have you tried reseating the H/S?

My Q6600 idled about the same on the stock heatsink-it really isn't that great.

You will def want to change it as well if you want to start overclocking that cpu as well. As said about the artic freezer 7 will do a nice job for that.

Thanks for the feedback guys.
It looks like I'll have to invest in a better cooler when I order some more bits.
Gareth.
