Hi, ordered a new pc build from overclockers. I currently have 2 benq monitors one is 4K and the other is a normal 1080p, the refresh rate is only 60hz but.

The new build pc consists of...

AMD Ryzen 7 3800X Eight Core 4.5GHz (Socket AM4) Processor - Retail
Asus Prime X570-P (AMD AM4) DDR4 X570 Chipset ATX Motherboard
Corsair Hydro Series H115i Platinum RGB Performance Liquid Cooler - 280mm
Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 PC4-25600C16 3200MHz Dual Channel Kit
Gigabyte Build Stock GeForce GTX 1660 OC 6144MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card
Corsair Force MP510 series 240GB NVMe PCIe M.2 Solid State Drive (CSSD-F240GBMP510)
Team Group TeamGroup 480GB L5 Lite SSD 2.5" SATA 6Gbps 3D NAND Solid State Drive
Seagate BarraCuda 1TB 7200RPM SATA 6Gb/s 64MB Cache HDD - System Stock
Corsair RMx Series RMx850 850W '80 Plus Gold' Modular Power Supply (CP-9020180-UK)

What would be a good monitor to pair up with this rig? Budget is whatever it takes really but I want to be realistic as I have just spent a pretty penny on the PC.

Thanks in advanced to anyone willing to help.

EDIT : Thinking of now replacing the GPU with the Gigabyte GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER Gaming OC 8192MB GDDR6? Thoughts guys?

Thanks for the great reply nova! The graphics card just now will only be temporary for a while, shelled out a bit of money so will bang in another 16gb RAM and a better graphics card later down the line! Never realised the money I have spent doesn’t go that far now adays, and I got the ryzen 7 cause I plan on upgrading so trying to future proof myself.

So to sum up, right now I will be getting max 60hz anyways?

Pointless getting a new monitor until I upgrade the GPU?

Thanks for your help bud.

P.S it was a standard build on the overclockers website I just upgraded a good few components.

Thankyou esat, the monitor I already have is the BENQ 3270u 4K HDR, budget monitor that I was using for my Xbox one X but thinking about just using that for this build now as I won’t get anything more than 60hz. Yeah the Corsair cooling and rgb ram could have been cut back for more performance but I’m only moving into proper pc gaming so didn’t want to go all out in case it’s not for me. I will be using this for general stuff so I think wanting as much performance as over 100hz is going to be well out my price range at this time. Going forward would you upgrade the gpu straight away then with the potential of a 2560x1440 144hz monitor?

Thanks for the knowledge it’s greatly appretiated!

Thanks nova, I could go and buy a new GPU and monitor right now but I’m just gonna hold out as this set me back a bit, will probably be posting in 3 weeks time saying it’s ordered lol.

That's seriously underpowered compared to the rest. However, it will be more than adequate for online gaming at 1080p. Keep the 4K display for browsing.

When you're ready, look at getting the RTX 2080 Super and the Acer Nitro 120 Hz 4K or a 3440x1440 144 Hz UW monitor.

Been looking RTX today and could pick that up soon, the only reason the GPU is low as it gets me going straight away and it will be the first upgrade in the near future, adding a RTX 2080 was over £2500, the reason I have went for a higher spec on other items, I have choose this build on the terms of knowingly going to spend money down the line and add more too it! Do you think it has potential to be added on too with like likes of the Mobo and power pack etc...

Rationalise these into a 1 TB NVME or SSD.

This nitro is on sale at amazon right now

Is that worth grabbing just now for the price and specs?

@Daniel Brown (strange coincidence as thats my son's name) You should remove the link before a mod see's it and gives you a "holiday". Links to competitors are not allowed on here. This forum is paid for and maintained by Overclockers UK so quite rightly links to competitors are not allowed.

Thanks for the heads up mate, I’m pretty sure my dads not called pastymuncher so we are all good!

Now I’m thinking about just phoning up and asking them to put a Gigabyte GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER Gaming OC in it instead as it’s an extra £300 just now and not 500 down the line, what you guys think?

Gigabyte 2060 super / RX 5700 XT or 2070 super is worth it over the 1660 for sure . Just depends on your costing. 5700 XT Gaming OC is better then 2060 Super in terms of performance but OCUK have increased the cost then most

Phoned them this morning, 2070 super gaming I changed the 1660 from. Out of stock at the moment so need to wait a little longer but it will be worth it.
