Hi all, been building PC's a while and my current rig is VERY outdated, just need some advice!

P4 2.0A @ 2.2, Soyo Dragon ULTA mobo (forget model, but the silver PCB one), 1gig ddr 2700, Radeon 9700pro 128mb

It mostly gets used for browsing and WoW, occasional other games (looking at COD4 etc on the new system) and i'll be sticking with XP... Bluetooth and external SATA would be desired...

I generally deal with basic business pc's at work (E2180's etc) so i'm a little grey with the whole dual/duo/quad performances... When i used to play around overclocking dual channel memory was just coming in! :D ;) Needless to say i've lost the big interest i used to have and now i just want a system which will last as long as this one has (4 or 5 years?) and still be able to run fairly normal games... Stability means more to me than speed! :p

Looking at spending £300/450 on mobo, cpu, ram and graphics. Always been a fan of Asus and want to stick with Radeon...

Boards i've looked at so far: Asus Maximus X38, Asus P5N-T, Asus P5K, Abit IP35... Processors: Duo E6600, Quad Q6600... Memory prob 2gig and i havn't got the foggiest about GFX :)

Any recommendations or advice would be very welcome! Thanks! :)

:EDIT: I've got a Lianli PC75 case i never quite got around to using, Got an Enermax 560W psu aswell... Current monitor has VGA and DVI ports... I'd possibly look at going SLI in the future...

came up with the following, would ask that you get the mobo double checked as not sure if it will need a bios update for the wolfdale processor:

Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 LGA775 'Wolfdale' 3.00GHz (1333FSB) - Retail £119.99 (£140.99)

PowerColor ATI Radeon HD 3870 XT Extreme 512MB GDDR4 TV-Out/Dual DVI/HDMI (PCI-Express) - £119.99 (£140.99)

Crucial Ballistix 2GB (2x1GB) DDR2 PC2-8500C5 1066MHz Dual Channel Kit (BL2KIT12864AA1065) £54.99 (£64.61)

Asus P5K Intel P35 (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard £66.99
(£78.71)

Sub Total : £361.96
Shipping : £8.95
VAT : £64.91
Total : £435.82

Thanks for your input mp260767!

Reading the reviews etc of all the above gives me that nice warm fuzzy feeling!

Gonna have a rummage later and see the differences between the different P5K models, think i'll prob go for the Deluxe model as its only a few quid more and has more heatpipes aswell as native 1333mhtz support :D

Now wheres my credit card... ;)
