infornt of my PC
Hi

Finally I will be retiring my q9550 in may.

Recently I have been starting to map my new build in my mind, deciding on how and what to used. While doing this a thought occurred to me. I am going to stick in as much RAM as I can... yes I know I probably won't need it but bigger is better.

Now having loads of RAM gives me some flexibility. One of my most irritating issues with a PC is rebuilding it. We all know that sooner or later it has to be re built and if you don't have an image then its a pain.

This led me back to an idea I had a while back. Why not build a PC. Install the basics and then put 2 virtual PCs on there. One for my main PC. Once built, I can take a snap shot and store that image. If I need to repair, just copy back the image and hey presto... no faffing about.

The second machine will be for internet browsing and downloading. I had been hit with paycheck ransomware a few times which caused me to re store images. If I isolate my web activity and downloads, then worst case and I am hit with a virus, trojan etc, it is isolated to that virtual machine.

Now this all sounds good in theory but I am not a VM expert. Are there any downsides to this plan?
