I have my trusty 2500k and a 7990. COD looks ok but not that great. Thinking of selling my rig and upgrading.

I have a 650W psu and a SSD. I play at 1080p 60 hz and I would like to max out - may be look at a higher res monitor for gaming in the future.

Please spec me a motherboard, cpu, a cooler and a gfx card
Do I look at i5, i7?
Memory? 16gb?

Which gfx card? Budget is say £500 to £600 for the gfx card

Looking for bang for my buck and gaming prowess. The only PC intensive I do is game.

Many thanks, pod

Have you overclocked your CPU?

I've heard that bo3 is terribly optimised at the moment so it may be worth waiting for patches and drivers to fix the issues rather than throwing money at the problem,

If you are adamant on upgrading then 16GB of ram and a 980ti will go a long way. Especially the GPU.

You really don't need to upgrade, I play on the system in my sig, only 1 7970 at the moment and it holds 80+FPS on pretty much all ultra at 1080p 144hz.

As above, get a decent cooler if you haven't got one and overclock the CPU. Wait for the new cards next year, I've downgraded from a 980Ti to these :)

7990 on a 650w psu? from guru3d 'Radeon HD 7990 - On your average system the card requires you to have a 750 Watt power supply unit.'

Maybe your card isn't getting enough juice. imo I wouldn't upgrade a pc just for BO3 seeing as the game has performance issues right now. What res is your monitor?

Hey you are right, it should have a 750w! Works ok, tis a good quality PSU.

I added 8GB from another machine, I am getting the blue screen after games, pause then the game starts and low memory warnings.

Great game, very flakey right now. Will wait a bit and see how the updates pan out.

I ramped up the settings and it works well, bit of lag, will continue testing and thanks for the info.

BO3 is not a graphically intensive game by any standards - it'll be taxing on higher resolutions, but if you're gaming at 1080p then you definitely don't need to drop £5-600 on a new GPU!
A 7990 should handle it with ease I'd have thought? It's better than a 970 from what I remember, aside from excess heat and power consumption of course. Should last you at least another year at 1080p!

I'd put money on the 7990 not scaling correctly, new games with X-fire and SLI is always a bit of a pain. You definiely don't need to upgrade for BO3, it's far from a taxing game.

Thanks fellas, appreciated, now having 16GB their updates and tweaking it is working really great.

Another question, in COD 4 special ops - two questions.

What's with the flashing shadows? Sometimes the game starts off ok but after a few I have flashing shadows.
k2500 i5, 16GB, AMD 7990

What's the issue with the mouse refresh linked with frame rate? I don't understand that.
