Hi Guys,

Finally, after about 5 years I am finally in a position to start a new build (current build in sig).

I do not need a case as I have an Akasa 62 that is plenty big enough and I have a Corsair HX 620W modular PSU so I don't think I need to upgrade this (unless there has been a change on MB power connections I am not aware of.

Nor do I need headset, speakers and my 24" DGM is still going strong.

My budget is £700.00 and I am aiming to build a rig that will be capable of playing Crysis 3 at 1920x1200 and 60fps (high detail). I need CPU, Motherboard, Memory, GPU, HDD, SSD and OS

I will be buying this on or around 20th March. any help would be appreciated as I have been out of the loop for ages.

to keep in budget, using B grade parts, same warranty, might have box missing or a cable or manual short etc, cpu still retail not oem so still 3 years warranty on that as well, but cost more yes but nearer to budget.....

I'd grab the Geil RAM for £35.99. Low profile and tighter timings.

Also no point spending £175 on a 7850, either go cheaper 660, cheaper 7950 or 7870 XT.

Thanks for the help Guys.

How could I expect Crysis 3 to perform using this build? It seems to be better with more cores so would I be better off with a AMD chip or an i7?

Also, What price would a comparable nvidia card cost?

I do have some flexibility on the cost and can go to £800 if needed.

3570k still probably your best bet. I think the AMD 8350 might slightly out-do it on Crysis 3 but on almost any other game the 3570k beats it. Crysis 3 is a pig though so don't expect miracles. Oh and GFX card I think AMD dominate the <£250 area. 7870, 7850 and 7950 all come in much cheaper than similarly performing nvidias.

7870 XT or 7950 with the 3570k would be your best bet to Play Crysis 3 on decent high settings. Have a read through the Crysis 3 threads in the PC Games and Graphics forums to get some idea.
