Built in December and has been solid until last few days where it has a total freeze up...

No blue screen,
Signal to monitor is cut,
Corsair RAM and keyboard light sequences freeze,
PC fans ramp up to max level,
Code 00 on ASUS motherboard,
Only way to get out of it is to turn off at the plug.

I haven't installed any software or updates... apart from maybe the GeForce driver a few days ago.

Crash has happened 3 times so far.

Anyone know how to troubleshoot or what this sounds like?

Ryzen 7950x, Asus Hero MB, Dominator 64gb, 10yr old PSU.

Thanks.

Any common timing, e.g. idle, games?
Nope. 1st crash happened during the ending credits of The Last of Us

Second crash during web browsing (loads of tabs open across 3 browsers)

Third crash, just now, happened after opening Ableton Live whilst Chrome and Opera were running

Only app open during all 3 crashes was Chrome with about 10 tabs loaded - doubt this is the culprit though as it's always open.

Oh. That leaves you nowhere really, I'm afraid, since there aren't many clues.

It is difficult to know where to start.

Fans ramping up to max and a freeze on the RAM/keyboard would usually suggest that you've lost any control/response from the motherboard.

I'd uninstall any motherboard software that could interfere with it: e.g. RGB, armory crate.

When was the last time you updated the BIOS?

10yr old PSU
Do you have any spares?

Ryzen 7950x
Is this cooled with an AIO, or by air? Just asking because uneven cooler mounts can cause all kinds of shenanigans.

So uninstall and revert the Geforce driver.

Chrome is GPU-accelerated. Look in chrome://flags
