New build trouble...Can someone please help urgently!

I have plugged in the 8-pin power

There are spacers being used between the motherboard and chassis

There is no speaker attached...is there no longer something that beeps built into motherboards, or am I completely off track there?




I found the power cables, but alas no success was made.

The power puts the fans on only.

I have since taken the motherboard out of the machine and set it on a anti-static mat. I then plugged in every cable for the basic items and tried starting it again.
Just the same...fans start up ok but nothing on the monitor.

I then dismantled the Heatsink and CPU but and studied the processor and where it sits. I cannot see anything wrong there. Does not look like there are any bent pins or anything.

I really don't know what I should do next. There are LED's on the motherboard, do they tell me anything that is wrong with the system?

EDIT: I am trying another graphics card and a single stick of RAM. I will post back as soon as I am done. + will also reset CMOS

Please help!
 
From your descriptions i cant see anything you might have done wrong which leads me to believe something is dead :( if reseting CMOS doesnt work. lets us know how it goes.

Put it on a plain piece of paper, not on the anti-static bag, the outside of the bag is usually conductive.

Just set up it with motherboard, cpu, heatsink, (1 stick of) memory, graphics card and psu.

If it doesn't work, post some pictures of the "bench setup" (just the components above) and people can have a look if you've missed anything obvious. Include close up pictures of every connector attached to the motherboard and every component.
 
Have just tried other GFX card...still the same result.

Have tried a single stick of RAM, and have swapped them about...no difference.

Have set up using the basics but still nothing.

Monitor is ok as I'm using it at the moment on my old and not very functional PC.

can I tell anything from the lights on the motherboard?

Do you think that it may be a RMA situation?

Any other suggestions?

Have got the system together just now but the mouse keeps stuttering. Is this something to do with the RAID setup? or graphics, or what do you think>

Glad you got it working! Thats a much more minor issue! Well done! Have you tried a different mouse?
 
WOW! thats been a long 2 days...just about had enough there then suddenly the computer came on on my last attempt.

I'm sure I will sort the mouse issue.

Fantastic to hear. I wonder what the problem was then? Did anything happen after reseting CMOS?
 
No the CMOS reset did not seem to do anything.

It may have just have been a peice of dist or something...who knows. As long as it's working though.
