New build trouble

Hi guys.

I've been piecing together my new build as I'm just waiting for the case now, I wanted to get everything up and running to make sure it all works and install the OS etc.

My parts are as follows:

i7 5820k
Gigabyte X99M Gaming-5 mATX board
16gb HyperX Fury DDR4 RAM 2400Mhz
Samsung 500gb 850 evo SSD
Gigabyte Windforce 970 OC
BeQuiet 600w PSU

So I hooked it all up and the issues are as follows:

1. The PC won't enter Bios. If I press delete on startup it will hang on the gigabyte logo screen (all options for BIOS, boot order etc disappear)

2. I installed Windows 7 successfully, but now whenever I start the PC with no disc it says reboot and select proper boot device. When I insert the Windows 7 disc it takes me to the installation screen. I looked at the space on the SSD and it would appear that the OS is installed judging by the missing space on the drive.

3. I got into the BIOS once by hitting F12 (select boot device) which allowed me to enter setup. CPU temp was 26 degrees, CPU was running at 3.4 and all 16Gb of memory was recognised. Since then I haven't been able to enter the BIOS this way.

Help please :(

As soon as you press the power button, start tapping the DEL key. Computers boot really fast these days.

have u got fast boot enabled and using a usb keyboard ???

id reset ya cmos and start again...just be carful when enabling fast boot as it disables usb ports on boot...so ya buggerd gettin into ya bios

I'll try cmos reset when I get home. I did try the second bios and had same result. Now I can sometimes reach bios but out of bios I just get the enter correct boot media screen.

Ssd with windows and DVD drive with disc in are connected. Fast boot disabled

Reset CMOS no joy. I can only get into the BIOS by selecting boot option (F12 on startup), pressing DEL key for BIOS does nothing.

Whenever I get past GIGABYTE screen it's just a black screen with the message "Reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device and press a key." I have my SSD connected with Windows and my DVD drive with the disc in. Both are recognised in the BIOS.

Is my motherboard faulty? :/

Update: I swapped my new SSD for my old 120gb Kingston SSD and it has booted up into Windows and loaded the BIOS when I pressed DEL on startup.

I guess this points to a problem with my new SSD. Should I plug it in in addition to my 120gb drive, boot my old windows and format the new one? I'm guessing the Windows 7 install I did was bad.

Status update: I'm having a hard time formatting the new SSD as everything I tried in Windows 8 (booted from other SSD) won't format it because it has windows files on it.

I think I'll wait until the case comes and I build it properly. Then hopefully I can boot Windows 7 with the disc and format the drive and try again.

At least it seems none of my main components are faulty afterall.
