I have finally finished my build:

Asus Sabertooth 990fx
8350K Black Edition
TeamGroup Elite Black 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C11 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit (TED38GM1600HC11DC01)
Samsung 240gb SSD
Gigabyte R9 280x oc Windforce
CX 750 Psu
C70 Vengeance case..

I am not overclocking yet as I only have an H50 cooler installed at the moment, planned upgrade to H110 or H100i in the near future..

I have left the bios stock the only thing I tried to change was setting the ram from auto to ddr3 16000 Mhz, as soon as I did that and restarted, on boot I received the overclock failure press del or f2 to enter setup.

What haven't I done ...

Was the RAM set via XMP or did you just increase the multiplier from 13.33x to 16X?

XMP sets the RAM up (frequency/timings/volts) by reading the manufacturer data on the RAM itself.

Just adjusted one setting from auto to ddr3 16x ... apart from HDD/SSD boot priority and Fan EQ settings that's the only other option I changed...

Just looked through the manual online and cant see an option for enabling XMP profiles, so manually check the voltage being applied is what the label on the sticks say they need.
