I'm looking for a bit of help in putting together a budget machine for gaming and general purpose use.
I already had a monitor, 1TB SATA HDD, an MSI nvidia GTX 460 that someone gave me (http://www.msi.com/product/vga/N460GTX_Hawk.html#hero-overview), keyboard, mouse etc. and Windows 8.1.
I'm looking at spending under £500 for the rest of the components (as cheap as possible, really) and given what I've read about performance, I'd prefer to get an intel CPU than an AMD one, though I know I can get more for my money with AMD, so I'm not totally stuck on intel.
The main reason for the machine is to be able to play Elite: Dangerous. As I backed it on kickstarter and have access to the beta, it is getting frustrating not being able to play it on my old machine, but I don't have a lot of free cash knocking around.
My idea was to buy a bundle, such as this one:
"Recon iX44" Intel Core i5-4440 3.1GHz (3.3GHz Turbo) Quad Core Value Gaming Bundle £259.99
But I wanted to be certain that the GFX card will fit, as it looks huge (!) and the mobo is only micro ATX.
To the bundle, I'll add a cheap SSD for the OS, a cheap ATX box, a 550 - 650W PSU,
Here is my current basket:
"Recon iX44" Intel Core i5-4440 3.1GHz (3.3GHz Turbo) Quad Core Value Gaming Bundle £259.99
Toshiba SSD HDTS212EZSTA 9.5mm 128GB Solid State Hard Drive - Retail Toshiba SSD HDTS212EZSTA 9.5mm 128GB Solid State Hard Drive - Retail £54.98
SuperFlower Golden Green HX 550W "80 Plus Gold" Power Supply - Black SuperFlower Golden Green HX 550W "80 Plus Gold" Power Supply - Black £49.99
Aerocool GT Advance Edition White Mid Tower - White Aerocool GT Advance Edition White Mid Tower - White £24.95
Asus 24x DVD±RW DRW-24F1ST SATA ReWriter - Black (Retail) Asus 24x DVD±RW DRW-24F1ST SATA ReWriter - Black (Retail) £17.99
If anyone has any good suggestions and could confirm that the MSI nvidia GTX 460 will fit, that would be great.
Thanks!
