Current cpu and motherboard:
Abit KN9 Ultra with AMD 64 X2 5200+ clocked to 2.8 GHz
Ram: Crucial Ballistix 2Gb kit.
Possible upgrade: AMD 2.6GHz quad with 590, 780 or 790 chipset.
Not really interested in SLi or crossfire.
IF I go for intel then again a 2.6GHz cpu and affordable motherboard tho cash does not allow for a quad cpu.
Suggestions welcome.

Hmm to be honest if you play more games than video editing and large photo edits i wougd suggest you go with a good intel core 2 duo, but vice versa go for the amd quad core line, 2G ram is fine for just now aswell, if you have a buget in mind that could help us choose some parts.

No games, no video editing.
Music(recording to hard drive&efx)
Music(multi track)
Photos&editing
Other than that, just general use.
Cash at present would swing it more the AMD way than Intel.
