New Build - USB Issues

In recent weeks I've completed a new build with an MSI Tomahawk B550 board, a 3080 and a Ryzen 7 3700X CPU.

Generally its all running well however I'm getting constant USB Issues when trying to use storage drives/USB sticks be it on the front panel ports or the rear ports; its also happening on USB-C and USB-A ports.

I'm getting a mix of messages but usually overcurrent; I find that difficult to believe when the same devices work fine on other PC's - where should I start troubleshooting?

start with BIOS. My b550 (gigabyte) has loads of USB issues and a BIOS upade corrected it

BIOS update completed but still having the same issue; USB-C memory stick which just comes up as "power surge on usb port" - USB device needs more power than port can supply..... its just a USB stick and works fine in my phone, tablet or anything else.
