hi people, just wondering if i am able to build a new pc (motherboard, ram, processor,GPU) Using my current hard drive with windows 8.1. i am on quite a low budget and keeping my HD with operating system would be a massive plus and allow me to buy the components i want. many thanks for even looking.

what chipset you moving the hdd to? it should sort out needed drivers for you

but you will have to re activate windows so make sure you have the serial,if not use magic jellybean software first on old motherboard to get the windows key

If you don't have a disc, you can download a Win 8.1 ISO and either burn it to dvd or install it to a USB flashdrive. But if you are unable to do either USB/DVD, then you can always install from within windows. Just download the ISO, start up your new PC and then mount the ISO, open and click setup. You can then do a fresh install or a refresh.
Simples.
And don't forget to write your Windows key code down before you do anything else.
