Yeees I know it's over budget but you have the overclocking option with the i5K CPU (it's currently on offer) and the Z87 mini-itx mobo. The mobo includes wifi and bluetooth if that also helps justify the extra spondoolies. I'm not a big fan of the mATX Prodigy layout. I'd also prefer the Prodigy with a mesh front panel for airflow. The Bitfenix Phenom is also a nice looking case but again it's front panel has limited venting.

All the best with it dude, we look forward to seeing what you settle on :)

Instead of the power supply above could i use a Corsair Builder Series CX 600w Modular '80 Plus Bronze' Power Supply ?

It will be fine for that set up. I was going to include the Superflower Golden Green, which is a lot better than the CX, but sadly it is out of stock. You could ask OCUK when they expect it back in stock.

Thank you for all your help. One last question I'm looking to get high to ultra graphics out of it, is that going to be possible ?

The 270 is a very good performer @1080p resolution. Check some reviews even the non-X 270 can OC well for extra performance.

I would try and shoot for the i5K, once the weekly offer ends it will most likely be back to a silly price of £190. Currently the retail is cheaper than the OEM (no heatsink and shorter warranty)

I had heard that some H series mobos had overclocking options added for the K CPUs via BIOS update. They won't perform as well as the Z series but it was good to hear, until I heard intel were blocking it with microcode so future BIOS updates will kill the feature :(

Was reading something along those lines the other day. Not a 100%, but I think there is a bios knocking about that will still enable you to OC, but it is not always guaranteed to work.

I still favour the mini-itx layout and Z87 combo with the i5K, totally respect you are trying to save him some spondoolies though :)

You can get some nice freebies but Stulid didn't mention the reduced warranty on those GPUs. If OP wants the BF4 game then awesome, if he doesn't he could sell it as we are over budget. The HIS 270X is external exhaust which is arguably a better solution in the small case. MSI 270 is a decent card, being the cheapest with a 3 year warranty to help resell value, I went with that and the red colour scheme :)

We've had a little fun styling it with him and having pointed out the options I hope he is well on track now :)

Yes thanks everybody. Just abit confused now sorry, could you do a basket on your next post please, with the power supply I wanted and the graphics card above which ever you think is the best. Also could you add a DVD drive as we'll please. Sorry about this, only ever built one gaming computer before.

Easy really, take what Idleman did and add a DVD drive and change to a Z87 mATX board,

So you have a fast 270X GFX card.

Z87 chipset board so you dont have to be concerned about overclocking limitations.

The only slight downside is the RAM speed, but it matches the colour.

The OcUK DVD drive is a Samsung, 20X is fine for a burning speed, heck OcUk don't even stock blank media rated any faster than 16X.

It can get confusing with so many choices. The Corsair 500W and 600W semi-modular PSUs are more expensive than my choice, they are good entry level PSUs but there are better choices. That money saved you pump into other parts if you get me ;)

Redone my basket to be blue friendly to suit the GPU that exhausts it's hot air out of the case. Plus a 24 speed ODD for you as asked. You can use THIS to post your own basket :)

The Z87 mobo can let you run the i5K faster, (the "K" CPUs are unlocked). You can do some light overclocking with the stock heatsink but you are going to want to improve the cooling at some point to get serious gains. The mini-itx does give you wifi and bluetooth over the mATX mobos. Watch some video reviews on the cases, you'll see what I mean about the difference in layout internally and the venting. A semi-modular PSU would be a good idea to make life easier on you.

You'll have to pick your own poison with the GPU. I tried to explain the differences earlier, not sure what you didn't understand though. I look forward to seeing you do a basket :)
