Hopefully getting me new rig this week.
Giving myself a jump to get back into it (gaming, photoshop, 3d, hd video editing)
Im totaly used to PCs but have been less and less last 6 yrs.

Wondering what would be the first things you would do with it, if you either had it built for you or did yourself?

  1. Win8 Set up users (one neutral, one passport/gamertag)?
  2. Antivirus install?
  3. Test performance? (3dmark, ssd?, soundcard?)
  4. Install games
  5. Install productivity programs

Anything else? Any epic workflows for keeping security high/going anon?
Rig ive got coming:

Case: Fractal Define XL
Power Supply: Seasonic 850W Gold Power Supply
Processor: Intel Core i7 4930K Six Core (3.4GHz, 12MB Cache overclockable upto 4.4GHz, Hyperthreading) Socket 2011
CPU Cooler: Corsair Hydro Series H100 High Performance Liquid CPU Cooler
Graphics Card 1: nVidia GeForce GTX 780 3GB GDDR5 PCI Express Graphics Card
Memory: 32GB Corsair DDR3 1866MHz C10 Quad Channel Memory Kit
Motherboard: Asus Rampage IV Black Edition Intel X79 Motherboard
Hard Disk Drive One: 500GB Samsung 840 Evo SSD
Hard Disk Drive Two: 1TB Seagate 64MB Cache
Optical Drive One: Blu-Ray Rewriter & DVD-RW Combo Drive
Sound Card: Creative OEM PCI-E Sound Blaster Z Soundcard
Operating System: Windows8Pro 64bit

Set Windows up, install you AV, then get your drivers / BIOS checked.

Motherboard BIOS update
Chipset drivers
NIC drivers
Graphics drivers
Soundcard drivers
Peripheral drivers

Ah good point on the drivers.
As the rig is being made for me, been told drivers should be all checked and upto date (they are stress testing the rig atm)

But if i was to look at them, im guessing just need to check the driver dates to see if up to date?

Anything other than AV and some benchmarking?
Was thinking 3d mark then something for the SSD, although think Samsung might provide their own.
