Hi

I've got all the components for a new rig, including a Raptor onto which I ideally want my OS; XP Home.

At the moment my OS is installed on another hard drive.

In short, I want to stick both in the new rig, with the new for the OS and the old for storage only.

Can I just make the Raptor the primary drive and install XP on it, then carry on using the existing data off the second drive? I don't want to change anything on the existing drive...

Thanks

Yeah, you just run Windows setup and it will ask you if you want to do anything with an existing installation. You can just escape that bit and then tell it to install on your new drive. It may come up as drive D though and keep your old drive as C but Windows will still run fine.

only put the raptor in, install xp (remember to F6 the floppy driver if you need to..)

after install has completed, put the original disc back in

just use the bios to choose which one you boot into

Interesting... will that enable XP to identify the Raptor as C:/ and the old Maxtor as D:/?
