New build - what to install after w7

hi all I have just built a new pc for my other half's dad. I've put windows 7 on, installed avast , lan driver, graphics and chipset driver. Is there anything else that I should install before giving it to him ?

Depends what he needs the PC for. If it's work then he might like a copy of office etc

But for basics, what you listed should be fine.

Secunia PSI & set it to auto
Sumatra PDF reader
Google Chrome or Firefox & set one of them as the default browser
Adobe Flash for Firefox if you don't want to use Chrome

Firefox or Chrome (but don't set it to Default unless that is your user's preference)
Maybe Java

Also download Team Viewer Quick Support and install Teamviewer onto your own PC. Then if he has any software problems you at least can easily get onto his machine to take a look.

Do not set Flash updates to manual. This is just asking for trouble.

Don't install Java unless absolutely necessary because it isn't capable of updating itself.
