I'm set to get the rest of my system today for a build, I've got 2 HD's coming (1x Western Digital Black 500GB and 1x Samsung F1 1TB). I plan on using the WD for the operating system and the Sammy for storage.

Do I need/is it worth partitioning the WD for windows 7 itself and then a seperate partition for the games? Or is there no noticable difference?

I seem to remember doing this a long time ago with XP but with my last vista build, I just had 1 unpartitioned HD.

Id leave it as it is tbh, even if you partitioned it youd have to reinstall the games again should you ever have to reinstall windows.

It's a new build though, wouldn't I have to install all the games again anyway if I reformatted? Or did you mean just install Windows 7 on the WD and the games on the Samsung?

Edit I see what you mean, I was only doing it for the possible performance gain when loading up games?
