Hi guys.

Just putting together a new build here, 5900x, Asus ROG Strix x570-f Gaming, 32gb RAM etc. Everything kina going ok on the first install of Windows, all updates seem to take and was using the PC for a few hours after that installing some games and software. Decided to call it a night, then next morning when I turned PC on it was caught in the Automatic Repair / Diagnosing Problems with your PC loop. No matter what I tried I couldn't fix it. So decided for a 2nd time to go for a fresh install. This time running through all the Windows 10 updates, it got the the 20h2 feature update but kept failing. It would download the update then install to 100% on the Windows Update window, but then when restarting the PC to continue the initialising every time it got to 30% or there abouts the PC would black screen and restart. I then get a message that was saying it was reverting all updates or PC to current state. So then back in Windows I tried installing it another few times but no luck.

I read a few guides saying to run the troubleshooting windows update which I did, it then seemed to find an issue with something and notified me it fixed and made some changes. I then ran the update again which updated a 1908 security file or something but no 20h2 appeared. Now its just saying that my pc is not up to date but every time I check for updates, it checks but doesn't find a single thing.

Any ideas here? I've never experienced this in the dozens of PCs I've built. I've been following a few troubleshooting pieces but nothing has corrected anything so far. The only thing I can think of now is to go for a fresh Windows 10 install for the 3rd time but at the point I'm thinking something isn't playing nice with my hardware...maybe a possible issue with my Samsung SN850 Gen4 nvme ssd?? It's brand new.

How old is the Windows install image? Why not use the latest 21H2 image: https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/software-download/windows10

Thx mate. The image is a year or so old. I would have used this but I've fixed it. Was running bios overclocks and negative -30 pbo optimiser so thought about trying it with bios set to factory default. It went though first time.
Thanks for the idea though, might grab a new up to date image now anyway.
