Well my computer (in sig) is getting old so been looking at a new build. Was interested in SFF, but really need a better value (big) PC - Need a fast and stable photo/music/work/games machine.

Most important to me is stability, so won't be OC'ing (for now). Have put together the following:

Thinking of installing Windows 7 RC on the machine, but not sure what the deal is with 32bit or 64bit versions. Are drivers available for everything in my spec for Win7? Do I just use the Vista ones?

The only other thing I was going to buy was a PCI wireless network card (no wires in my flat). I hate 3rd party network software, just want drivers! Any recommendations for Vista (32/64?) compatibility.

Thanks all for your help!
Chris

If i were you id just get a 64 bit OS so that 4gb of ram actually gets recognised, and i personally am not bothering with windows 7 because it expires at some point next year i think so when i get a new build il be getting a retail vista64 ;)

Whats your absolute maximum budget?

About £600. I don't want to spend money on Vista, and then fork out more for Win7 when it's released. Rather use a free RC, then pay once for Win7.

Edit: Do'h! Ignore my post- i mis read your clocking info.

You could buy the e5200 for £60 and clock it heavily without too much difficulty and stability (3.5Ghz isn't ambitious) and put the extra money towards a better gfx card - 4850 or 4870.

You could update the cpu at a later date when prices have dropped.

I'm running my e5200 at 3.5 at just above stock - it's obvioulsy not as fast as your listed cpu but it would certainly see you through this year with games with a better gfx card.
