Hello guys

Current Rig
E5300 Pentium 2.6Ghz
4GB 1333mhz DDR3
360GB HD
Geforce GT 630
300W PSU

I was thinking of building a new system by taking everything of use from my old system and putting it in a new motherboard and processor (Still using a 775 E5300 Pentium :<), I was thinking of using the AMD A10-5700 with a cheap motherboard that has HMDI so I could use the on board graphics, since I assume it would be better than my current stuff.

I can spend about £200 on this, and I could do with a new case and PSU as well as the motherboard and processor upgrade.

Any advice?

Trinity sounds like the one for you but you may want to give it a few weeks for the cheaper A75 boards to be released so that you can overclock it and remain within your budget.

EDIT: I didn't even ask, is this a gaming rig? If so then ignore my below specs and go for Trinity.

Depends how you want to tackle the upgrade and if you intend on upgrading further at a later date.

If you only want to spend £200 now, then go for the below and then maybe grab the 7850 2GB (circa £150) at a later date.

YOUR BASKET
1 x MSI Z77A-G43 Intel Z77 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard £79.99
1 x Intel Pentium G860 3.00GHz (Sandybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor - Retail £61.99
1 x XFX Pro 450W Core Edition '80 Plus Bronze' Power Supply £43.99
1 x Kingston HyperX Genesis Grey 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit (KHX1600C9D3X2K2/8GX) £25.99
Total : £211.97 (includes shipping : FREE).

Alternatively, save up a chunk more and grab something like the below which would last you much longer and give you more processing power.

YOUR BASKET
1 x HIS HD 7850 IceQ X 2048MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card (H785QN2G2M) w/ FARCRY3, Nexuiz & Sleeping Dogs PC Games £155.99
1 x Intel Core i3-3220 3.30GHz (Ivybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor (77W) - Retail £89.99
1 x MSI Z77A-G43 Intel Z77 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard £79.99
1 x OCZ ZS Series 550W '80 Plus Bronze' Power Supply £49.99
1 x Kingston HyperX Genesis Grey 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit (KHX1600C9D3X2K2/8GX) £25.99
Total : £401.95 (includes shipping : FREE).

It's a 775 socket dual core pentium processor, think Core 2 Duo style.

It is going to be used mainly lite gaming (WOW, the odd steam game here and there) so is trinity gonna be my best bet?

What case do you have at the moment and is that ram definitely DDR3?
Or better still, what 775 mobo do you have?
And is £200 your absolute MAX?
Forgot, what OS do you have and is it 32 or 64bit?

It's a old HP case, but it's designed normally, nothing stopping me using it for a different system, and the RAM is definitely DDR3 as I upgraded the ram to 4gb from 2gb, and it's a foxconn eton motherboard (HP only think).

200 is my max, and i'm currently running Win 7 64bit.

Should also mention that I'm using a 1366x768 monitor so i'll only be gaming up to that rez.

Found it, it is a mATX board.

Option 1. Keep mobo ,cpu, ram and case. OC the Cpu, if you can. And just get Psu and Gpu.

1 x HIS HD 7850 IceQ X 2048MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card (H785QN2G2M) w/ FARCRY3, Nexuiz & Sleeping Dogs PC Games £155.99
1 x OCZ CoreXtreme 500w '80 Plus' Power Supply £32.99
Total : £200.38 (includes shipping : £9.50).

Option 2. Sell mobo,Cpu,Psu and case. Put the money towards a decent Gpu.

At 100 posts you qualify for free P&P, no harm discussing your options and taking your time to plan the build ;)

YOUR BASKET
1 x Gigabyte Z77-D3H Intel Z77 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard £79.99
1 x Intel Pentium G840 2.80GHz (Sandybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor - Retail £55.99

You will regret getting the merc beta. If you think you can "rock" your case a little longer then..........

YOUR BASKET
1 x Gigabyte Z77-D3H Intel Z77 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard £79.99
1 x PC Power & Cooling Silencer Mk III Series 500W '80 Plus Bronze' Modular Power Supply - White £59.99
1 x Intel Pentium G840 2.80GHz (Sandybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor - Retail £55.99
Total : £195.97 (includes shipping : FREE).

or finally with an ivybridge i3 CPU

YOUR BASKET
1 x Intel Core i3-3220 3.30GHz (Ivybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor (77W) - Retail £89.99
1 x Gigabyte Z77-D3H Intel Z77 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard £79.99
1 x XFX Pro 450W Core Edition '80 Plus Bronze' Power Supply £43.99
Total : £213.97 (includes shipping : FREE).

THe Z77 mobo will allow an upgrade to an i5K and overclock it later on in the rigs life. I used the G840 earlier as it's cheap enough to consider "writing it off" to do this upgrade. The ivybridge i3 is however a great bang for buck CPU with quick sync support, the lucidMVP software with the Z77 mobo can use the IGP to boost your nvidia 630 GPU. This will help the 630 more than it would a more capable gaming GPU

Are you sure that ATX board will fit in his case?

Just to let you know it's a micro atx case, so a normal ATX wouldn't fit.

That is a shame. You could use the GB Z77M-D3H but to be honest it's not as good as the ATX version and is more cash :(

Idlemans final spec suggestion isn't bad. I think personally I would have still used the G840 and used the cash to get help pay for the better shinobi case. That H61 D3V is a good mobo as it's a rare exception that includes sataIII and USB3

Getting some good ideas from the thread so far, but isn't the G840 worse than the A10-5800k? (Just asking as the G840 only has a score of 2838 compared to the A10's 4902)

Also i've got til xmas to decide what I want to order, so I'll try and take the time to get to the 100 post mark. :D

Well get saving. :D
Prices and offers change all the time, so it would be better to get a spec when you are ready to order.
Also gives you time to do a little research. The specs already posted have given you some idea as to what you could get for your money.
Who knows, your budget may be bigger! ;)

Here's a comparison:

http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/675?vs=404

If you wish to stick to budget and not buy a GPU the A10-5800k build is the best by far, you get excellent graphics performance, but the lack of level 3 cache causes a performance deficit vs the G860 in some games (such as WoW). You can compensate by purchasing faster RAM (DDR3-1866 is a good choice), which you should do any way in order to maximise the performance of the on die GPU.
