So I am looking at upgrading my PC in the next 4 months, probably Feb for Witcher 3.

I would like to keep some components and am primarily just looking for the main 3 upgraded, CPU, Motherboard and RAM.

Use to be on the ball some 5 years ago but lost track and not a clue what is what now!

I would like it to be all tucked inside a Silverstone Fortress FT03, I have a Corsair 650W PSU, Solid State 250GB Hard drive and 1tb storage drive, keeping my ATI 5870 for now.

So I think I just need

Case : Silverstone fortress
CPU
Motherboard
RAM
Slot loading CD Drive for case (not that I ever use it)

missing anything?

I am looking for best bang for buck and will want to overclock.

I currently have a Thermalright 120 Ultra heatsink ontop of a Core 2 Duo E6420 overlcocked to about 3.5ghz (4gb ram). . not sure if this heatsink will carry over?

If not then I would like a cooler which is all in one watercooling solution like the antec Khuler range (or something similar) so its quiet. . . rather noisey my current rig so would like it queit.

Any basket suggestions much appreciated. Will Fortress Case still be available in Feb next year?

Does the heatsink have socket 1155/56 support?

You could source a bracket for the TRUE on the big auction site. Still an extremely good cooler that will cope with the latest cpu's. Still use one on an x58 setup here.

Yeah that would be great, what sort of search term would find one, tried the obvious and found something like a 'retention kit' but not sure if thats what your talking about as theres not much desription.

Hi, sorry to revisit the thread again, few more questions as we approach May and the release of Withcer 3 :)

Will my 650W Corsair PSU be able to handle one of the new upcoming ATI cards? in addition to the above suggested spec:-

I planned on overclocking the CPU and am wondering if I need to get a new PSU to cater for this....just not sure how to gauge it, would be gutting to build it all and then find it doesnt support the new kit.

It should be fine although we don't know how power hungry the new cards will be. Hopefully AMD will have made improvements to power efficiency.
