Its a new RTX 4090 OC, AMD 7950X 3D, dual channel Corsair 2 x 32 GB DDR 5 5600 ram kit, there was no 6400 64 GB kits when I ordered my stuff from OCUK recently and we all know its not a good idea to fill all four ram slots.
Anyway, along with this motherboard ordered from OCUK a ROG Crosshair X670E that actually has 4 NVME slots and since i had spare ones and also ordered a Samsung 990 pro as a dedicated OS drive I filled it with 2 more NVME drives, one 4TB and one a none de-script 2TB I bought from Amazon I originally bought for my new lappie to increase its storage space,
Oh I have also rather greedily filled all six of the boards traditional SATA boards slots with a mix of SSD and 2 mechanicals.
Things were going good for ages but perhaps I was thinking but not yet measured, overall disk performance was grim for a system spec like this?
Anyway, earlier this week, system crashed, rebooted and windows was not happy, my F:\ NVME 2TB drive was gone, but BIOS still semi recognised it ??? and then the problems started, it would take forever to boot the PC and the board always stalled at the BIOS stage ... am patient though so witnessed several boots and no go, when suddenly and after making a cup of tea, the seemingly frozen PC started rolling again, only to crash on Windows 11 launch...... argh!!!!!
I'm pretty sure its that Amazon, none de-script 2TB NVME under the board covers, being faulty that even the BIOS struggles to see now .. I have stuff to do now, so will pull that NVME later today or tomorrow and also streamline this rigs SATA drives too ... I really dont need 2 mechanical back up drives on this PC that are already backed up on my home NAS and second PC
