Hello,

The pc i currently have requires me to load additional SATA drivers when installing Windows XP (Please press F6 to load SATA drivers.....) This is an old pc, probably over 5 years old.

Now, i'm planning on a new build and i'm wondering if this is going to be the case again?

Cheers!

AMD Phenom II X2 Dual Core 550 3.10GHz Black Edition (Socket AM3)

Asus M4A77TD Pro AMD 770 (Socket AM3) PCI-Express DDR3 Motherboard

Samsung SpinPoint F3 1TB SATA-II 32MB Cache - OEM (HD103SJ) [HD103SJ]

quite a popular setup i believe so i'm sure someone has experienced a new build with this.

Cheers.

I didn't really have money to include 7 into my build but i think i might as well since i'd be planning on it sooner rather than later.

It just means i'll have brand new components sitting around for like 2-3 days, and when i get new parts i just can't wait to test them out lol.

You installed SATA drivers after the Windows installation?

If that was the case, how did Windows detect the drives during installation? i can't comment on the future build as i don't know but my old build doesn't even recognise any drives unless i load them from a floppy.

(Do you have the same motherboard as above?)

Update - This was fine. Bios detected it straight away and XP installation had no issues at all. SUCCESS!
