Hi the problem is i cant get the pc to boot when 2x8gb ddr3 is inserted into the dual channel memory slots.

It will boot when there inserted with the ram together in single channel memory slots.

Motherboard:asrock z170 fatality gaming k4/d3
Ram:corsair vengeance pro ddr3 2x8gb 2400mhz
Cpu:i5 6600k

Any help will be much appreciated this is my first build so still learning the basics .

I posted this on another forum and just had a reply back saying..

Why the hell did you go with a DDR3 model? Skylake is meant to be used with DDR4, and while there are DDR3 boards for it, there are major restrictions.*

http://www.asrock.com/mb/Intel/Fatal1ty Z170 Gaming...*<-- your memory isn't listed, and in fact no 2400 speed memory is supported in dual channel!

He then replied...
Just make your own 2166 profile and you should be able to run dual channel

Im going to try and make a 2166 profile see if that works

I have no bent pins however the h100i cooler could be screwed down uneven i will have a look at ram slots make sure theres nothing in them

Thanks Stulid..

I will check model numbers now just got back in.

Thanks stulid

EDIT: my model number on ram is...CMY16GX3M2A2400C11R

I have tried two different profiles 1866 & 2266 and its doing the same thing pc powers on but the monitor light is just blinking im going to call it a night now i have just put it back in so its running 16gb but only single channel

How much does running dual/single channel effect gaming?
