Hi I recently helped my friend purchase a new build. We set about the task of putting it together today. Long story short when the power is turned on, all the lights come on the cpu cooler, case fan and GPU fan all start turning as well. However the monitor says no video input and the Motherboard speaker just clicks about once every 5 seconds. I have tried resetting the CMOS and I believe all the PSU plugs are in and in the right places. Spec is as follows:

Intel I53570K
Seagate Barracuda 7200RPM 1TB HDD
Corsair CX500 500w PSU
Patriot IEM 8GB RAM (2x4GB)
Gigabyte Z68AP-D3 Intel Z68 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard

Can anyone help me?

Is it a Rev 2 of the Z68-D3? Rev 1 might need a BIOS update to use the Ivybridge CPU. The Rev 2 is ok with Ivy out of the box.

24 pin and the 4 pin power connected up on the mobo? Silly question perhaps but it's often overlooked. Also try it out of the case and rest the mobo on it's box to rule out a short in the case.

It's the motherboard that you recommended in your build? On my other thread not sure how I tell if it is is Rev 2 or not? How do I update the BIOS without being able to boot it?

Edit: The mobo is definitely rev2.0 checked the side of the box, does this mean its definitely not a CPU problem?

Just a quick update I have now tried the build: out of the case, with a different GPU, switched the RAM around and tried both sticks on their own but still the problem persists. The monitor just displays no signal and the keyboard that is plugged in does not light up or anything. I have googled it and found a few similar responses saying that the BIOS is not updated for this mobo to work with the Ivybridge chipset? Was this what you were talking about Hono?

I cant find the BIOS version anywhere, I can't get hold of a Sandybridge CPU no one I know has one anymore, Looks like I will have to return the mobo:
any thoughts on this one
