i have just built a new pc which from cold wont boot up but all the fans come on but no pic or anything and wont let me go into bios either .
but if i use a usb stick (bootable) i can get into bios and check boot sequence is ok and exit and save and it boots ok .

also once its booted up ok i can turn it off and it will start normally

any ideas why , i did think m/b battery but settings are how i left them or perhaps i should wipe windows of and start again

i have tried that now and for some reason it wont or cant see the file in m flash and i have checked i have the right one several times
Did you format the usb drive to fat 32 , some bios files need renaming check the manufacturers guide for bios flashing.

What motherboard do you have ?
its an msi b550 gaming edge wifi ,

i must have downloaded the update 4 times and the 5th time it worked in same usb port and on same pen so updated now so will see tomorrow if its worked maybe conflictind m_2 with other drives if not , will update later

Right after bios update I shut down computer left it for 10 mins and restarted OK but when I tried again in 30 mins it won't start it doesn't even get to bios post
Disconect power from the wall and use the clear cmos jumper on the motherboard to clear bios, Leave for 10 mins put everything back and try.

I'm off to bed so i will reply in the morning but others may help

I have the same issue with BIOS files. I extract them to a drive and frequently they are not recognised. Sometimes takes a couple of downloads to get it working. I thought maybe it was just some dodgy thing with the Gigabyte website but I've now had the same on MSI.

I think I usually have more success if I extract using 7zip intead of Windows compressed folder tools, maybe the latter has a tendency to corrupt files.

Right fiddled tonight cleared cmos no change
I put new gpu in old machine that works OK
I put old gpu in new machine and that boots up OK so I have a conflict with new gpu and new build any ideas

But the computer works OK with my old gpu and starts shuts down and restarts OK it's only when I put in the new gpu

Tried changing the GPU power cables?

Also it could be your GPU is heavy and its sagging, causing improper connections to the PCI-E slot. You probably need a GPU sag bracket.
