New build won't boot

Following advice for upgrade cpu, processor and ram, I got a new pentium g850, gigabyte h61m-s2pv and 8gb ram.

I replaced my old kit today but on powerup there is no boot. There is a clicking/static noise coming from the mobo speaker and the CPU fan will turn 90 degrees once every few seconds, then eventually kick in after about 30 seconds at high speed then slow down a bit. The clicking does not go away, the cpu keeps spinning but there is no output, sometimes the cpu fan dies and the psu fan turns off afterwards.

I'm using it with a gtx 460, I've tried it with or without, and a mechanical wd 750mb hd.

The power supply is an ocz 600w sxs. I'm running the 12v main 10x2 pin and atx/2a 2x2 to the motherboard, sata power to the HD.

Any troubleshooting or obvious things I'm doing wrong? Thanks

On the ATX 2a 2x2 connector, is this going to the power socket beside the CPU?

The one it is in, next to the 10x2 as it was on the old mobo, is nearest to the cpu. There is another also labeled atx a bit further away, but the 2x2 doesn't fit in there, they have the same face of squares and chamfered squares

I'm wondering if this could be a lack of power issue for some reason, when I put on the case lights they are slightly flickery.

Hold on... there should be a 24 pin socket, and also a 4 pin socket (labelled ATX 12v from what I can see). You need a seperate lead going to each. Sorry if I've misunderstood your post.

Upon further Googling, I believe from that PSU you should have the leads labelled MAIN and 24 going into the 24 pin ATX socket, and one of the CPU leads going to the 4 pin socket.

Thanks, that is what I thought and I've tried it but have the same issue

Edit: resetting CMOS solved this issue.

(Ok so update this morning is even with the old mobo, cpu, ram there is still something wrong. The old setup makes the right noises and all the fans spin up including the gpu, but the monitor reports no video input, even when testing with a different card.
Would this point to the psu being the problem? The old mobo has a power led which is lit.)
