New Build won't post HELP!!!!!

Literally tried everything refunding them both then buying a 3800XT for 320 quid which will go straight into my board which i know works and is on the latest bios the 5800x is only like 10% faster at 1080p gaming anyway and pretty certain even with a 3800XT it will get me near 100% GPU bound with which im only currently like 60% bound.

Definitely plugging display into gpu?
This is a good point. It was my problem.. I plugged into mobo and got nothing. Plugged into GPU and everything was fine.
Rather than losing out on a hard-to-find current gen CPU why not order another board and see if that works? Then you will know for certain if the existing board has a problem or not.

Can you list the specs of the old setup aswell as the new, someone may be able to spot an incompatible piece of hardware. If you can get your old one setup you could load up the latest bios to a usb and use the flash just to make sure that it's done. Is the board not able to use the 1700 cpu?

What's the output of your PSU? If you are on the limit the 40W difference in TDP between the two processors could be stopping your system from booting.
R7 1700=65W
R5 5800X=105W

The board is getting sent back Wednesday and refunded gonna get try this https://www.overclockers.co.uk/msi-mpg-b550-gaming-plus-amd-am4-b550-atx-motherboard-mb-35a-ms.html and get them to Update the bios for me if that doesn't work il refund the board and sell the 5800X and get a 3800XT.

I have just taken delivery of this board and a 3600x today and I am getting the same issues.

It initially POST'd about 6-8 times, booting into windows fine. Windows would then crash/hang after about 5 minutes, and could only be rescued by a manual power off. After it did this for the 3rd time, I am now in the same situation.

Board powers, fans ramp up, then immediately ramp down to nothing, RGB all comes on, but then it just sits there, doing nothing, with no display on the screen. I've used the Q-Flash thing to flash to the latest BIOS (I think it worked, have no idea if it did and no way to verify) and I have reset the CMOS as well.

I have tried different GPU, RAM, Removed all extra bits from the board and re-seated everything. I will try the rest tomorrow, PSU (will have to rip apart my media server) and the CPU as well ( I have a 3700x in my other machine, but I can't really rip that out as I need the machine for work, but I guess i'll have to to rule out the CPU or not).

I should say, that the PSU was working fine in my other system and is also pretty new, so I don't think it is the PSU that's at fault.

I know you have given up, but I will let you know what I find. It may be of some help for other people out there, with this board.

at least yours posted to start with ive never gotten anything to display on Screen hopefully my next Board which looks the be a MSI one will work.

Well, I took the 3700x out of my main machine and put it in the B550M Aorus Elite (I realized you were using the ATX board, but the innards are probably the same) and the problem went away. POST'd and booted to windows with no problems at all. Left it running for a while and did some brief tests, and it all worked fine.

Put the 3600 in my "Main" Machine and it wouldn't even POST. As such, it looks like the CPU is faulty. A bit odd, as it managed to POST and boot a few times before it finally died. I must admit, i've never had a faulty CPU (assuming I am correct), so this is a new one for me.

I read elsewhere that someone else had a faulty 3600. I wonder if, potentially, there was an issue with this batch?
