New build won't post

So 10 years since my last build, this time had the wisdom to test everything before putting it in the case. Build is:

Ryzen 7 7800x3d
MSI b650 Mag tomahawk wifi
Phantom spirit 120e
G.Skill Flare X5 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR5-6000 CL36 Memory
Western Digital Black SN770 1 TB M.2-2280 PCIe 4.0 X4 NVME Solid State Drive
ASRock Phantom Gaming OC Radeon RX 7900 XT 20 GB Video Card
MSI MPG A850G PCIE5 850 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply

Now new range CPU so did a bios usb flash, all seemed to go fine, CPU, ram, cooler installed after this, CPU fan header used for fans. 2x CPU 8 pins and 24pin plugged in. And red CPU led and yellow ram led on power on. So tried with 1 stick of ram in 2nd slot, no dice, reset bios by removing battery and waiting, and tried again no dice. Removed everything and did another bios flash this time for a earlier version but one that still supports the CPU. And once again the same again..... currently waiting to see if it's just exceptionally long memory load times but I doubt it. M.2s are not installed, GPU not installed.
Anything I'm missing? Reseated CPU, couldn't see any bent pins or whatever they are nowadays on am5

Sounds like you've done the basic troubleshooting, red cpu light doesn't sound good though.

You say 1 stick of ram in slot 2, have you tried another ram stick in slot 2 ( just to rule out the ram ) ?

I've waited anything from 5 mins and up. Last time I've waited up to 30 minutes after reseating everything.
I've only tied displayport I must admit, but does that make any difference if it never actually posts.

I press power button, CPU fans spin and the red CPU fault led comes on as does the yellow/orange ram fault led. PSU fans spins too. And nothing happens after waiting (I'm aware many have reported this and it's just the memory needing time, but it doesn't ever seem to post). But yes, completely blank screen. The CPU and ram fault LEDs never turn off.

10 mins, probably more. I then tried a boot after that, then when that didn't work I updated bios again to a earlier version, but still a 7800x3d compatible version.

After that I used a screwdriver on CMOS pins and tried again. So far nothing, it's still running on that last CMOS attempt so gonna find hdmi cable.

Nope, no bios at all, not even a startup and restart. Just power on, fans on, and the 2 fault lights with no picture for over 30 mins. Both mobo and CPU are off for RMA. One of them or both must be faulty. More likely mobo as CPU will still generally work with pins not working.

Unfortunately the manual is as simple as red CPU led -cpu not detected or fail. Same for the other 3 fault LEDs and their respective colours. Anything more than that and msi would be helpful and that's not gonna happen. Also negative on the keyboard.

Was already out of case, it was the test fire of parts before actually building it. I spose the CPU cooler being over tightened could be a possibility, unfortunately it's all packed up waiting for collection. Which they've already missed but are apparently coming back to get today. If they don't collect I will build up test bench and try it again.

Wasn't collected today so tried one last time with cooler just resting on top. Still no luck. So have no doubt it needs to go back, both mobo and CPU so hopefully one flags up faulty for a replacement and get build back on track.

The solution was an rma of the motherboard. Another company I can't mention who I bought it through tested the CPU and motherboard separately with known working components and found the motherboard was completely naffed.
If it's definitely not the known memory test issue then get it RMA'd asap

My 2nd MSI tomahawk worked fine on first boot. No ram mem learning. Just booted straight up. Hope your new board is fine.
