the things that i have checked are:

.2 the front panel connections
.3 i have tried the ram in different positions

does anybody have any idea's on where to go from here?

Maybe a silly question, but are you powering both portions of the motherboard? There are two rectangular power points on the MB. Next to the cpu socket and to the side somewhere.

I made this mistake on my first build :(

got all the power connectors plugged in?

Have you tried the power buttons on the mobo as opposed to the front panel ones.

If the PSU's have modular connectors make sure that they are firmly plugged in.

Sounds obvious I know, but it stopped my new build powering up, until I lightly touched one of the cables, and it virtually fell out of the PSU!

Gave it a firm push back in, heard a slight 'click' and all was well.

ok i have the motherboard out of the case on a anti static bag
i have the board with a minimal things plugged into it (no sata cables,1 stick of ram and no gfx card the monitor is plugged in via the on board dvi power cables are all in)

same result no sign of life at all i also cant see any damage to the board

yeah just tried different ram sticks in different slots still nothing :(

hmm seems like a dead motherboard then i guess.

if there is nothing else i can do its rma time

thank you all for your help

Dont use an antistatic bag, the outside is conductive.

use a cardboard box or wooden tabletop.

Are the fans spinning up at all when you try turning it on?

the only fan what was spinning was the fan connected by a molex to the psu the fans connected to the board cpu fan and another case fan was not spinning

i have the cooler off and just checked the cpu and socket they look fine
