Just built the below rig:

ASUS P5KC Mobo
Q6600
Tuniq Tower 120
Corsair 620W
4 x 1Gb Black Dragon
3 x WD 320gb SATAII
BFG 8800GTX OC

Cabled everything together and powered on and lights up, beeps high pitch beep then shuts straight off.

RAM is in DDR2 slots, removed all apart from 1, still the same.
Unplugged all drives apart from one, still the same.

8800 powered by bother PCI-e connections from PSU, still same problem. Unplugged 8800 power, still same problem.

Anyone got any other ideas beform I strip it down to reseat the CPU?

Daft suggestions first... have you built a PC before? (Sorry - have to get these out the way... :))

Did you remember to use the little brass stand-offs when putting the motherboard into the case? Or have you screwed it flat to the case and therefore shorting it out? (Don't worry - shouldn't be permanent damage)

Pull all but one memory stick out. Detach the hard drive and CD cables. Remove any extra add-in PCI cards. Boot with only graphics card and one memory stick. Does it still beep the same?

The fishdude, You are a stealy eyed missile man! Completetly missed that, powers up now thanks. Have yourself a curry and four pack on me tonight. Cheers.

As for the other questions, yes I have built two other systems before but they were both AMD 2 year ago. Thisis my first Intel, hence not realising the 4 pin connector.

Thanks anyway guys. Just goes to show that even the simplest of things just need a double check. :D
