New build wont start

Ive just finished building my new pc. gigabyte p35c ds3r, core2quad, 4 Gb geil memory, 8800GTx, Corsair 520HX, 500Gb Seagate SATA HDD, freezer 7 pro with arctic silver 5, all in a coolermaster wavemaster case.

Tried to switch it on, everything spun up, but then died after about 5 seconds with a whistling noise that died down slowly. then it turned itself on again, but I didnt get a BIOS beep. switched it all off, checked it and turned it on again, this time it didnt power down after 5 seconds, but the cpu fan wasnt spinning although everything else was. Some help please guys.

tried without any ram and got 3 long beeps, tried one stick and got the short bios startup beep, but the cpu fan still isnt spinning, tried a different fan, still nothing.

Sometimes the cpu fan won't start spinning until a certain temp is hit. Go into bios and disable the fan options, I think it defaults to auto.

Is the 4 pin power connector plugged in?

Some times it is easirer to remove all from the case and just plug in required components.

Check the cpu, memory and gfx card ar seated properly.

Can you try the components in your other rig to rule them out?

Try the fan on another connector.

its a known problem with this board mate just rma it

also servo u can not get into bios it wont post

tried the cpu fan in the system fan connector, still the same and i noticed the gpu fan isnt spinning either

it posted once, but as the cpu fan wasnt spinning i switched it off again.

do you have a 3 pin to 4 pin adapter, try that, the cpu fan should spin @ 100% then.

no adaptor, sorry. but shouldnt the gfx fan be spinning anyway?

Yes it should, re-check your connections to it, and reseat it.

OK, got it to work, swapped the cpu fan to the 3 pin system fan connector and everythings running fine.

vista installing now
