hi there,
im trying to start my newly built computer and when i press the power button its asif it has power for about a second then goes off ???

can anyone help ?

thanks

Shorting on the case?
Have you got the "other" power wire in aside from the 24 pin?
Memory / GPU seated right?
GPU power in?
Reset the Bios

Obvious list, sorry, but the most common hiccups.

Might sound silly, but I had problems with my first build like this. Turned out the bios didn't like my USB keyboard. As soon as I unplugged the keyboard, it booted as normal :)

took the usb keyboar out and that did nothing,
took the pwn rear fan out of the cpu fan socket, did nothing.
do i have to put spacers between the standoffs or something ?

Could be useful to know the specs (what mobo etc...) of the build.

Had a similar problem to you (well, power error beeping on start-up) took everything bar the PSU out of the case and built it on the floor, reseating the RAM, GPU and CPU in the process. Made sure all the seating screws were screwed into the case fully and then put everything back in the case.

Could try this - takes a while but it's worth it.

PS. As someone suggested on my thread, put the motherboard on an antistatic wrapper when it's out of the case.

8 pin power cable for cpu connected.
Memory in the correct slots, did this on my build.
Also try a CMOS reset.

Ah cheers, hate when this happens :(

Couple of other options is trying only 1 stick of memory or running the board external to the case, unless you already tried.
