Sorry if this isnt the right forum but not sure where is. I am a complete noob and need help please Rig us as below:

B450matx motherboard
250 f force ssd
Red devil 580 graphics
Seasonic gold core 500w
Cit f3 casw
16gb vengence ram

So i built this last night as my first build. It turns on and fans go and graphics card lights up and all that good stuff. But i am still waiting for my monitor to arrive so i decided ill link it up to my tv through hdmi for now to set up bios and install os. Ive tried plugging the hdmi from my tv in both the hdmi slot in the motherboard and in the graphics card but the screen just says no cable connected? Any ideas? Do i have yo connect a DVI from the motherboard / graphics card to the monitor for first set up?

P. S i have checked the tv is on the correct input. Thanks in advance

What's the CPU, and what's the exact model of motherboard?

The first thing I can think of that it could be immediately is that you have a 450 series board with a Ryzen 3 series CPU, and maybe the board's BIOS is old and doesn't support your CPU. If you are sure that it does then you can try normal troubleshooting steps (in no particular order):

- Check if your motherboard has any status light, a lot of them do and the colour can give you an idea of where the problem is.
- Remove any USB devices except essentials
- Try with just one stick of RAM seated (make sure it's in the slot it should be according to manual)
- Iterate through your sticks of RAM one at a time and see if it will boot with any
- Try a CMOS reset (either read the manual and use the jumper or remove the battery for 30 seconds)
- Remove any PCIe devices except for GPU
- Try GPU in a different slot
- Check all power connections especially the main motherboard power at the CPU power (top left of the board), also check connections on the PSU side of things if it's modular

Sorry knew i forgot something. My motherboard is :
ASUS Prime B450M-A Micro ATX Motherboard, AMD Socket AM4, Ryzen 3000 Ready, PCIe 3.0, M.2, DDR4, LAN, HDMI, DVI-D, D-Sub, USB 3.1, Aura Sync RGB Header

And cpu is ryzen 5 1600(12nm)

These were suggested as my go to build on an OC forum and checked by a few people so assume they are compatible.

The only usb i have plugged in is the keyboard to access bios.

Psu isnt modular. I assume motherboard main power is working if its able to power the 2 case fans and stock ryzen cooler fan?
This matx motherboard only has 1 gpu slot where it can be placed.

Ill look into the rest of the things when i can get back in

Don't assume anything about the power connectors, always check them. Just because there's enough contact to power a few fans doesn't mean everything is making contact so it's worth checking it. Especially check the CPU 4 or 8 pin power as well.

I tried turning it on and it booted and im currently staring at my bios. Only thing i changed was i unplugged my mouse from the usb on my front panel. Guess it times to go ahead and install my OS. Back to YouTube. Wish me luck! Thanks for the helo Peter much appreciated

In that case double check where your front panel connectors are plugged into and try another USB header on the motherboard if you want to try getting them to work. Also probably a good idea to get the BIOS updated. Glad you got it working!

My front panel usb2.0 either go in to my usb32 or usb12 in my motherboard not sure which as the other 1 has the card reader usb olugged into it and i cant see which is which atm as the gpu is in the way. Ill know if the usb definitely doesnt work when i stick the windows installation memory pen in i guess

It might just be that the board doesn't like the device in that specific port for some reason, pretty weird and a BIOS update may fix it. Doubt it's a short or anything as I'd expect your PSU to shut off in that case.
