Hi everyone been outa the computer scene for a while.

I wanna build me a comp that is capable of playing newish games especially c and c 3.

Main criteria is im looking for performance and a reasonable price budget is really £400 but will to go over if i need to.

Please can anyone suggest best parts to get and graffics cards? i would like to run vista premium on it as well.

Have your say let me know....

Cheers Scott

Do you need everything? i.e. case, HDD, optical drives etc? If not then try this:

Its slightly over budget but will let you play all the latest games with lots of potential for overclocking.

I like the look of it i do need a case and psu tho. Is intel good these days i have always been drawn to amd. Also is there any other good graffics card with a lower price tag? redeon or likewise.

Cheers for the help.

Jaffa_Cake has given you a good specification there, if you really must get it closer to the budget then you could drop the Noctua and accept that your overclocks will be somewhat more limited. The Gigabyte 965P S3 is another option if you need to save a bit of cash but I think overall you'd save more and be better advised losing the cooler. :)

Cheers guys this seems like a nice set up only other things are is there an amd chip alternative or would you stay with the intel i want to get gaming and have heard amd is a lot better..

Whoever told you that was lieing. Intel is a lot better at gaming at the moment.

When the A64s first came out AMD were giving Intel a bit of a tanking as the P4s weren't as good and were pricier. Now the situation has more or less entirely reversed, Core2Duo is often cheaper for equivalent performance before overclocking and tends to overclock very well, 3ghz from the E4300 isn't uncommon providing the motherboard is decent (the DS3P is good) and the cooling is adequate. I'm not saying that stock cooling will necessarily manage that but 2.5ghz should be achievable. :)
