I'm currently awaiting delivery for the parts for a rig that I am building, here are the parts I have ordered:

Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium 64-Bit Edition DVD - OEM

Hauppauge WinTV Nova-T-500 Dual Freeview TV Tuner

BFG GeForce 8800 GTX OC 768MB GDDR3 HDTV/Dual DVI (PCI-Express)

Western Digital Caviar SE16 250GB 2500KS SATA-II 16MB Cache - OEM

Samsung SH-183LBEBN 18x18 DVD±RW Dual Layer Serial ATA Lightscribe ReWriter (Black)

Zalman CNPS9500-AT Aero Flower (Socket 775) CPU Cooler

Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Elite Pro 7.1 Soundcard

OCZ 4GB (2 x 2GB) PC2-6400C5 Dual Channel Vista Gold Series DDR2

Corsair HX 620W ATX2.2 Modular SLI Compliant PSU

Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 "LGA775 Conroe" 2.40GHz (1066FSB)

Antec P180 Advanced Super Midi Tower Case

EVGA nForce 680i SLi (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard

This will be the first system I have built from scratch, and I plan to overclock it too.

Are there any tips and tricks that I could use to have a smooth build and install. ie leaving out 2gb ram/pci cards when installing vista etc? Replacing the fans on the mobo and getting a seperate GTX fan?

Nice spec their. You dont have to do anything special to be honest. Take your time, READ the manuals and dont think you know better.

Is this your first system you have built yourself?

I'll second this - I've had limited experience with building PCs, but each time I was successful simply by taking care at each step to follow the instructions I got with the hardware. Don't rush it or take shortcuts and you should be fine.
