I have just discovered to my horror!, that my old Soprano Case will not take a 8800GTX!, so Iam having to by a new Akasa Mirage 62 Aluminium Case and a couple of 120mm fans. Because of this I can no longer afford a new PSU aswell (was going for 620W Corsair), I will have to buy one in time!. Will my Hiper HPU-4M580 580W PSU run my projected build? What do you guys think of my new rig?

Intel Core 2 Quad Pro Q6600
OCZ 2GB PC2-8500 1066MHz RAM
Tuniq Tower 120 CPU Cooler
Akasa Mirage 62 Aluminium Case
BFG GeForce 8800 GTX OC2 768MB
Hitachi Deskstar T7K500 NCQ 500GB
I all ready own a XFi Platinum Pro 64MB which will be going in also and two optical drives.

Get cheaper Ram you dont need PC8500, you can overclock 5300 or 6400 easily to 8500 speeds. Use extra money to get a new PSU.

The Hiper will run it ok yes, but it's hit and miss as to whether yours will become part of the Hiper Explosive club.

I agree with dropping the RAM specs and getting the new PSU.

As for PSU, you haven't mentioned how tight your budget is, if you dropped the RAM (saving 70 odd quid) can you afford the Corsair ?

Is there a specific reason for going for the DS4 ? If you went DS3R you could save another 30 quid there.

Last year I bought all my kit, got it all in house and start assembling. Had everything all nicely fitted and last item was my pride and joy BFG 8800GTX. You can imagine the terror when it didn't fit. Yes, I too had selected the Soprano ...
